At the Gate of Mercy

Once, an angel fell in love with a demon.

That pristine love kindled his emotions.

He became more and more refined through this love.

As time passed, their love blossomed.

Being an inmate of Hell, he was forbidden to love an angel,

And for an angel, it was a sin,

For Hell had always waged war against Heaven.

Nevertheless, the lovers met secretly on frequent occasions.

But one day, they were both caught red-handed.

The Lord of Hell banished the demon to Earth for a time.

The God of Heaven put the angel on trial

And cursed her to live a life on Earth.

Both the angel and the demon were born on Earth,

Unaware of their past.

Years passed,

And at the dawn of their youth,

They met each other.

They were bound together by the aura of love.

They loved, loved, and loved again,

And they got married.

They were content even during their hard times,

And they spread light around them,

Helping the helpless and the hapless.

But their sojourn on Earth was about to end,

And at the appointed time, death came.

They embraced it

And became their former selves.

It was time for them to return to their respective places,

But they did not want to part.

When they reached the gates of Heaven,

The doors opened before the angel,

And she entered Heaven desolately.

The poor demon stood at the gates of mercy,

But the doors closed in front of him.

He did not want to return to Hell,

Yet he had no other option.

With a heavy heart, he moved towards Hell.

Then, a sonorous voice stopped him.

The voice told him that he had been kind and compassionate

During his sojourn on Earth.

The voice also declared

That people with such kind hearts

Would always have a place in Heaven.

Once again, the gates of Heaven swung wide open before him.

Tears trickled down his cheeks.

He could scarcely believe his eyes or ears.

Slowly, and with deep reverence, he entered Heaven,

And there, he found his angel waiting for him.

Together, they led a beautiful life in Heaven.
