The Luminaries

Myth is that a loser wrote history,   There’s no such thing. Even if there were, It would only contain great defeats, Worth more than a thousand lustreless victories. And you may come across people who died for a cause, Whom you hesitate to call martyrs. They are names unknown, But their slayers are well remembered, And you might even know their names. No textbooks inscribe their stories, No poets compose lyrics on them, No squares are named after them, No monuments are erected to pay homage to them. They are the unknown citizens, They are the lost causes, Like fallen foliages they decay to become a compost, Like prop roots they always support the tree, They are the helpless common folk who lost their lives in the oppressive autocracy, They are the mass who allowed the leader to speak up, They are the soldiers who fought great battles and died unrecognised, They are the common workforce who built the great cities, They are the farmers who alleviated the hunger of the c...

A Mid-monsoon Night’s Dream

And we walked abreast Through the moonlit ways Drenched by the monsoon showers Walked past fields, lakes and meadows And when we arrived at the threshold of hypnopompia You faded slowly Yet your chattering was reverberating in my ears

Here and There

Still you are here even when you are there And my heart chimes when nostalgia pervades Like a melody that evokes soothing emotions and reminiscences Of a shared past In which we were drenched in the passionate current of love Ah! Bliss rests in reminiscences

Poem of Unwritten Lines

Let me give you a letter filled with my silence To communicate my reticent desires And read it when you are alone If you find yourself in the midst of the eloquent deafening silence, Then you know how to read me If you find yourself in the midst of stillness, Then I have to remember to forget you always

A Verdant Dream

Yesterday night I saw a pellucid dream Of a place I have never dreamt of Vales, woods, savannahs and stream All welcomed me with a gaiety laugh Chirping birds, water dashes and light showers Poured honey into my ears Verdant woods and all-hued flowers Filled my eyes with joyful tears Bees, butterflies and birds beckoned me To ingest the nature’s bounty Trees were bathed in the vernal showers with exhilarating glee Bulbuls were on their hasty flight to an another county In that mystic dream I couldn't separate myself from the nature I felt like I had roots that connect all Just then I realized nature’s stature It embraces everything to become a connected whole

Roaring Dogs and Barking Lions

Once there lived Lions and Dogs Lions were lots in number And Dogs lesser Lions were magnificent and ferocious They roared often Dogs bewildered by this And they bowed before the Lions In awe One day Lions began to bark And Dogs began to roar Dogs became pompous Lions withdrew themselves Then the Dogs began to reign the realm And Lions bowed before Dogs in awe They oppressed suppressed repressed the Lions After a long time Lions regained their roaring And Dogs began to bark But Lions suffered from memory loss They forgot all the misdeeds that The Dogs had done on them Again that happened Lions bark, Dogs roar Again Dogs suppressed Lions Still once in five years Lions get back their roaring But for a short while Then Dogs become Dogs and Lions become Lions History repeats…
